Alison Penland ('04) was perhaps the first major star in the storied George Mason girls' soccer program. During her high school career, she was First Team All-District, All-Region, and All-State her sophomore, junior, and senior years. She was District, Regional, and VA. State Player of the Year in 2003 as well as Honorable Mention All-Met her junior and senior years. In high school, Alison played on two VA. State Championship teams and one VA. State Runner-Up team. She later played women's soccer at Division II University of Tampa and was a starting midfielder on their 2007 national championship team.
