Carol Rose ('58) excelled in basketball and softball for George Mason. During her junior year she led her team to second place in the Regional Basketball Tournament (there was no Virginia State Championship process at the time). In her senior year she once again led her team into the Regional Tournament and this time won the championship and was named Most Valuable Player in that tournament. Carol averaged over 30 points per game during her senior season and had several games in which she scored over 50 points in a game. Her best game also occurred during her senior year when she scored 58 points - a mark that remains George Mason's basketball single-game scoring record for boys or girls.
