Ralph Havens ('55) excelled in football, basketball, and track for George Mason. He was the leading scorer on George Mason's 1954-55 Virginia State Runner-up Basketball team, where he totaled 300 points in a 20-game season - that team was ranked 15th in the D.C. Metropolitan area at the end of the season. Ralph was named to the Washington area All-Star Basketball team that selected athletes from 56 schools in the region. He was the Virginia State Champion in the 440-yard dash and 880-yard run during his senior year and led George Mason to its first Virginia State Track & Field Championship - the first state championship of any kind for the school. Ralph later starred in cross-country and track at the University of Virginia. His work career was equally distinguished. After notable service in the Air Force, Ralph retired as a three-star general.
