Awarded to Tim McCabe for notable athletic accomplishments while overcoming challenges and adversity.
Despite being born without arms, Tim was a three-year letter winner on the George Mason boys' varsity soccer team from 1994-96. During his career, Tim's teams compiled an overall record of 42-5-2 and won metro area recognition and rankings for excellence in soccer. As a frequent starter playing in the striker position, Tim scored 7 goals during his career at George Mason and was named to the Second Team All-District squad his senior year. Opposing players and coaches paid Tim the ultimate compliment by acknowledging publicly that they soon saw and played him no differently than any other opponent.
In 1997, Tim received the Allstate Foundation/VA. High School Achievement Award in the Group A male athlete category, which recognizes the exceptional accomplishments in the classroom and in athletic and academic extra-curricular activities. To date, he is the only male George Mason athlete to win that award.
Tim is a 2001 graduate of the College of William and Mary.
